About our Organization
Our vision is to establish a society free from discrimination, injustice and poverty and where every child and woman can live with dignity and their human rights respected. The missions are • To strengthen partnerships with government, national-international development agencies (NGOs) / partners as well as corporate bodies to bring about large-scale sustainable positive change in the political, social and economic situation and • To empower marginalized women and children (marginalized socially, politically and economically). The organization works closely with partners where exploitation, social injustice, harassment of any child and woman exists. We work in line with the guidance of child rights policies, Juvenile Justice Act, policies of state and central government of India and International Human Rights tactics. TALAASH works to support, share the pain of & address the needs of every child & woman and be the voice for changing survivors’ lives through advocacy, prevention, protection and integration right-based approach. Its multifaceted efforts are steps taken to eliminate all forms of violence against women and children, for their well-being and development.
Core Activities
Woman and Child Protection: | Establishing and upholding rights of women & children, fact-finding, rescue/release from various confinements, repatriation, Providing legal aid, psychosocial counselling and capacity building programs, ensuring basic education, nutrition and prevention of diseases. |
Advocacy, Research & Communication: | Initiating research on various issues related to women and children i.e. discrimination, harassment, sexual violence, rape, human trafficking and child labour. Creating and maintaining different networks and coalition on different issues at home and internationally. Advocacy and lobbying from grassroots level to policy makers level through meetings, workshops, IEC material and media (both press & electronic). Sensitize to media persons and disseminating relevant information for creating mass awareness on the issue of violence against women and children. Observing and celebrating special days related to women and children to support survivors and raise the voice of civic society. |
Emergency Response: | Responding to natural disasters, complex emergencies and special needs of children in crisis, helping and supporting them for resettlement and development. |
Training & Skill Development: | Conducting trainings and workshops, Involving law enforcement agencies, state officials, NGO officials, religious and community leaders and members of the civil society in a dialogue on issues relating to all forms of violence against women and children. Carrying out skill development programs, educating and empowering survivors for resettlement and merging them with the mainstream. |
Resettlement: | Providing shelter support, livelihood support, linkage to education, vocational training and job placements, formation of community based networks, care committee for the sustainable reintegration and rehabilitation. |
